Stampede by the Sea

Bridport, West Bay and Lyme Regis
28 March 25  – 27 May 25

Overview

From the iconic cliffs at West Bay to the Cobb at Lyme Regis, Stampede by the Sea features a herd of elephant sculptures, placed in Bridport, West Bay and Lyme Regis to create a fun and free art trail.

The sculptures are each individually designed and painted by a talented artist and local schools, youth organisations and learning venues also designed smaller elephants to join the trail.

A perfect activity for local families, and an engaging attraction for visitors to the area, the trail is discoverable with an app.

Stampede by the Sea is open to visit from 28 March to 27 May 2025 and there will also be the chance to see all the sculptures together in one place from 14-18 June at the Farewell Event at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester.

The Wild in Art event is raising funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, who provide specialist end of life care for local adults with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones. The large sculptures will then find their forever homes when they are auctioned on 19 June to raise vital funds for charity.

How to explore the trail

The official Stampede by the Sea app is now available. You can download it for £1.99 and create an account, and then use it to follow the trail.
With the app, you’ll be able to log each sculpture you find by inputting a unique four digit code, take photos and upload them, count your steps with the built in pedometer, collect rewards and vote for your favourite elephants.
Printed maps are also available for £2 from the Trail HQ in West Bay, Weldmar Hospicecare charity shop in Bridport and Lyme Regis and Hive Beach Café.

In partnership with Weldmar Hospicecare

Weldmar Hospicecare looks after adults with a life limiting illness, providing specialist care in the comfort of patients’ own homes and in the community, and also supports the loved ones of patients as they navigate life’s most difficult journey.
