Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail, our first nationwide public art trail, took place in Scotland in summer 2019. The event supported three children’s hospital charities and celebrated Scotland’s favourite son, Oor Wullie.
The trail featured more than 200 human-sized sculptures decorated by artists and each reflecting Scotland’s cultural identity.
It ran for eleven weeks, from June to September, taking to the streets of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.
Auctions of the sculptures raised more than £1.29 million was raised for the three charities, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, ARCHIE Foundation and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
The auction in Dundee raised £239,000 for the ARCHIE Foundation, Edinburgh’s auction totalled £318,000 for the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital and the final auction, which took place in Glasgow, raised a total of £419,500 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, breaking through the £1 million mark for the overall total.
