Meet the Team: A Q&A with Cheryl

When did you join Wild in Art and what do you do?

I am the Finance and Executive Administrator and started working at Wild in Art in early 2019.

What has been a favourite Wild in Art moment?

Ooooh, am I allowed to pick our last Christmas do? Everyone singing The 12 Days of Christmas – it was a good, wholesome moment and sums up the team perfectly, all working together, doing our own bit to create a masterpiece.

Which sculpture or sculpture artwork stands out as being a favourite?

The hare and the gorilla are my favourites. Go Wild Gorillas was one of the first trail I was involved with when I joined Wild in Art and I was amazed at how much money was raised for Durrell Zoo. I’m a big animal lover so to see how people got involved in the auction to raise money for the zoo was fantastic.

Artwork is a tricky one to narrow down. There are so many fantastic artists involved in our projects that I couldn’t possibly pick just one favourite!

What do you like to get up to outside of work?

I’m lucky enough to live in the Peak District which is perfect for walking my little dog, Loki. When I’m not walking the dog, building Lego with my son or playing darts with him, I’m trying to teach myself crochet. It is not going well!

If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

My son is 13 and is desperate to go to Paris. We are currently saving up so we can go to all the places on his ever-growing list! I’d love to go to Rome one day too.

Which TV show are you currently binge-watching?

I’ve just finished watching a German series called Dark which was fab. I’ve just started watching Vikings… again.

Ever had an interesting celeb encounter?

I once met Dermot O’Leary at Reading Festival in the early 2000s. He came over to me to tell me he loved my Thundercats t-shirt. Cue shouts of “Thunder, thunder, thunder, Thundercats – Hooooooooo!’. I think you had to be there to fully appreciate the randomness!

And finally but most importantly, what’s your brew order?

Coffee. Milk, no sugar, or a cappuccino. Although at the grand old age of 43, I recently discovered iced coffee – Salted caramel frappe is my new favourite treat!
