A tribute to artist Betti Moretti

We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of one of our beloved artist colleagues and friends – known to our trail audiences as the one and only Betti Moretti.

The Wild in Art team met Liz back in 2017 when her incredible Bear design was selected for The Big Sleuth event in Birmingham. The painstakingly beautiful design took hundreds of hours, and with its intricate illustrations and poignant message, it became a firm fan favourite.

Liz’s zest for life, creative vision and community spirit, led her to mount a crowd-funder campaign to buy her Bear back, and to see it forever a community asset and enjoyed by the community within which she lived and worked.

We are so grateful that this project gave Liz the sculpture bug, and over the years she worked on many commissions for us and our event partners; each one bringing a spark of creative wonderment to a different town or city and ultimately raising tens of thousands of pounds for charities across the country.

We will miss Liz’s artistic contributions to our events, but more so her infectious laugh, wonderful spirit and radiant smile.

We hope this tribute brings comfort to her friends and family, her wonderfully supportive mother and courageous daughter who is embarking on her own creative adventures at university this year.
