Dartford Bear Hunt

The Borough of Dartford has been transformed with 31 big bear sculptures and over 50 bear cubs, designed by local artists, schools and community groups.

Inspired by the award-winning animation based on the beloved children’s book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen and illustrator Helen Oxenbury, the trail runs for eight weeks from 17 July to 13 September 2026 and is raising awareness and funds for local hospice care.

ellenor, a leading Kent hospice supporting children and adults with life-limiting conditions, has joined forces with Dartford Borough Council, Wild in Art, and Walker Books/Lupus Films to bring We’re Going on a Bear Hunt to life across the Borough of Dartford.

At the end of the trail, the large decorated sculptures will be auctioned to raise vital funds for ellenor.

In support of ellenor

Dartford Bear Hunt is created in partnership with ellenor, a hospice charity providing vital support to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses in North Kent and Bexley.

All proceeds from the trail will benefit ellenor including the charity auction, where all of the large bear sculptures will be sold to help fund local hospice care.
