Overview

A brand new Wild in Art trail came to Perth and Kinross in summer 2024.

The Hairy Highland Coo Trail was delivered in partnership with Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) and Perth & Kinross Council. The colourful trail featured 30 large sculptures in total, with each coo sponsored by a local business and decorated by a different artist.

A herd of mini sculptures formed the ‘Wee Coo Trail’ around indoor venues in Perth city centre. They were decorated by local schools and community groups.

The free trail could be enjoyed from 28 June to 6 September 2024, with the sculptures highlighting the cultural gems of the Perth and Kinross-shire region. The ‘Hairy Highland Coo Trail’ app was available to download from the App Store and Google Play to explore the trail.

A farewell weekend took place on 21-22 September at the historic Scone Palace where all the sculptures were placed around the gardens.

The large coos and some special edition wee coos were then auctioned off on 26 September at Scone Palace, raising over £272,000 for CHAS in support of children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

For thirty years, Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) has been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

This includes palliative care, family respite and support – through their hospices, home care services and hospital presence.
