Morph in the North

North Tyneside
29 January 22  – 3 April 22
North Tyneside Council
Overview

The world’s first ever Morph art trail hit the streets of North Tyneside in early 2022. Twenty individually designed Morph sculptures were found in and around the borough’s town centres from Saturday 29 January to Sunday 3 April 2022.

Morph’s Epic Art Adventure North Tyneside saw colourful life-sized models of the Aardman favourite found in Whitley Bay, Wallsend, Killingworth, Forest Hall, Tynemouth, North Shields and Cullercoats.

The trail was inspired by the iconic clay character who made his TV debut in 1977 on the BBC children’s art programme Take Hart, alongside artist and presenter Tony Hart. William Harbutt, the inventor of plasticine, was born in North Tyneside, so where better to have the world premiere of such an amazing attraction!?

The ’Morph’s Epic Art Adventure’ interactive app was available to download from the Android and Apple app stores from Saturday 29 January. A limited number of printed maps were also available from local Customer First Centres and to download.
