Snowdogs Discover Buxton
For eight weeks in winter 2024, Buxton was home to 12 Snowdog sculptures, all uniquely designed by artists across the UK.
The sculptures could be discovered around central Buxton from 19 October until 15 December, after which they were auctioned to raise funds for Blythe House Hospice.
This was an incredible opportunity for locals and tourists of all ages to get out and about, rediscover Buxton and enjoy the festive sculpture trail inspired by the animated sequel to the late Raymond Briggs’ timeless picture book The Snowman™. In the heart-warming story, a young boy builds a snowman and creates a Snowdog with the remaining snow. At midnight both of his creations magically come to life.
Trail maps could be picked up from the Blythe House Hospice charity shop on Buxton Marketplace, Pooles Cavern visitor centre, Pavilion Gardens café, Sacro Lounge Buxton, Buxton Visitor Centre (The Pump Room) or Markovitz Buxton.

The Charity Auction
After the trail ended, the sculptures were sold at a charity auction at The Palace Hotel on Thursday 19 December.
An incredible £60,124 was raised for Blythe House Hospice to support the compassionate care to patients and families affected by life-limiting illnesses across North Derbyshire.
