As the countdown to the 150th Open began, ten uniquely designed golf bag sculptures, designed by local students, were brought to life on a new trail.

The Big Bag Trail navigated its way through the history-filled streets, which visitors and golf enthusiasts enjoyed, guided by a free-to-download app.

For one of the budding artists from the two local schools involved – Madras College and St Leonards – the event was extra special, as their winning design was chosen for the actual Tour Bag to be used by every Callaway Staff Professional competing in the tournament.

Following The Open, the 10 sculptures were auctioned at a special evening event, raising £126,000 for CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) and Scottish Sports Futures.

This special auction, also accessible to the public online, celebrated the community achievements of the initiative, in the company of local dignitaries and specially invited guests and was held on 19 July.
