The biggest public art trail ever seen in Worcester took to the city by storm, as gentle, giant giraffes stood tall in our midst.
30 huge giraffe sculptures majestically towered over residents and visitors for ten weeks. Visitors also spotted 27 smaller sculptures – called calves – just as creatively decorated by local young people around Crowngate Shopping Centre as part of the event’s learning progamme.
The event’s auction raised money for the St Richard’s Hospice Build 2020 Appeal, which aimed to raise the final £1.4 million needed to build a bigger hospice, enabling more patients and families to be cared for in Worcestershire. 31 giraffe sculptures raised a towering £210,400 towards the appeal.
