A colourful herd of Elephant sculptures stomps into the seaside town for the summer.
Herd In The City – created by Havens Hospices and Wild in Art – sees 46 large elephant sculptures and 72 baby elephants dotted around Southend-on-Sea from Friday 14 July to Monday 4 September, including Shoeburyness and Leigh-on-Sea.
Each large sculpture is designed and decorated by artists from across the UK and are accompanied by smaller elephant sculptures, which were painted by local schools and community groups.
Trail-goers can follow the trail by downloading the official app, where users can collect the sculptures, unlock rewards, upload photos and track their steps.
Physical maps can be purchases from any Havens Hospice charity shop and other venues, including Herd HQ at The Royals Shopping Centre.
Maps and additional souvenirs can also be purchased on the online shop.
The event will be raising money of Havens Hospices and will culminate in a special evening at the end of the trail where each large sculpture will be auctioned off to raise additional funds.
The money will support Havens Hospice’s vital specialist care and support for people of all ages who are living with incurable conditions and their families.
