Bulls in the City

Overview

2025 marked our return to Birmingham to deliver a brand new art trail, based on the city’s iconic bronze Bullring bull, in partnership with Birmingham Hospice.

The new sculpture trail was the first to be based on Laurence Broderick’s sculpture, the city’s famous bronze Bullring bull which has been standing, turning in motion, outside The Bullring since it opened in 2003 and has become synonymous with the city, symbolising the strength, persistence an determination of its people.

Over the summer, the magnificent city was transformed into a spectacle of free art in support of Birmingham Hospice. A herd of 40 large Bulls, based on the iconic Bullring bull, and 88 calves were on display across the city centre, with mini herds also in Boldmere and Harborne.

Working with Birmingham Hospice, this colourful and exciting art trail brought art out onto the streets for all to see, engaged local communities and raised awareness for the important care the charity provides the people of Birmingham and their loved ones.

Most Voted For

Cadbully

During the trail, visitors could vote for their favourite sculpture on the Bulls in the City app and Cadbully by Donna Newman was a larger-than-life dairy milk feast for the eyes!

This design was a delicious tribute to Birmingham’s iconic Cadbury’s chocolate factory, beautifully painted to resemble a rich, glossy chocolate bar.
