We were delighted to be working with LOROS Hospice to create Rocket Round Leicester, an art trail of 40 giant, spectacularly-decorated Rockets which touched down across Leicester in summer 2021.
The trail steered a voyage of discovery through the city’s streets and open spaces and helped even life-long Leicester dwellers discover something new about where they live.
Rocket Round Leicester formed a pivotal part of the city’s post-pandemic economic recovery, as well as a brilliant day out for everyone.
At the end of the trail, each of the 39 Rockets were auctioned and raised an out-of-this-world £153,095 for LOROS Hospice to help them continue to care for over 2,500 terminally ill local people every year.
Rocket Round Leicester’s final total raised for the hospice was a record-breaking £317,141.
The sculpture trail was enjoyed by over 270,000 trail-goers, with each sculpture being seen by over 96,000 visitors on average.
It also have a huge economic boost to the region, with an estimated £9.87m additional visitor spend in the local economy and over 40,000 visitors took trips to the city museums, libraries and shopping centres that hosted the Junior Jets as they explored the trail.
Over 19,000 young people were involved and they helped raise £44,689 within their 42 schools and youth groups.
Lots of trail-goers used the app to track their Rocketspots and along the way, 2,315 photos were uploaded and over 53,000 sponsor rewards were collected.
