Overview

In July 2025, a herd of magnificent Elephant sculptures stampeded into Leicester as part of a spectacular art trail raising vital funds for LOROS Hospice in its 40th anniversary year.

Each Elephant was sponsored by a business and beautifully designed by a talented artist to create a free, fun, family-friendly trail of discovery for the community to enjoy whilst exploring the city.

Joining the giant Elephants roaming through Leicester were mini-herds of Baby Elephant sculptures, adopted and decorated by schools and community groups as part of an exciting Learning Programme.

After the trail, the large elephant sculptures were auctioned to raise money for LOROS Hospice, helping terminally ill local people and their families at the most difficult times of their lives.

A mammoth £286,800

The highest winning bids included £14,000 for Ellie, a life-like representation of a young African elephant by artist Amy Bourbon and £12,000 for XL, which was designed by international artist Alex Echo.

In addition, Remember Me, an elephant sculpture displaying the names of loved ones who are no longer with us, was gifted to the hospice by a host of supporters whose bids totalled £29,000.

Twist and Stomp

During the trail, visitors could vote for their favourite sculpture on the Stomp Round Leicester app and Twist and Stomp came out top of the trunks!

Created by Natalie Ratcliffe, Twist and Stomp brought joy and sparkle to the herd. She is a shining patchwork of colourful lucky stars and is a joyful reminder to never be afraid of standing out and to always spend your days dancing together like no one is watching.

In partnership with LOROS Hospice

Stomp Round Leicester was our second trail partnership with LOROS Hospice, following the success of Rocket Round Leicester in 2021.

2025 marked the hospice’s 40th year of caring for its community.
