Elmer The Patchwork Elephant

Elmer The Patchwork Elephant

Inspired by David McKee

Elmer is different, Elmer is patchwork, and he remains one of the most beloved and celebrated children’s book characters of all time. Written and illustrated by the late children’s author and artist David McKee, the Elmer books’ subtle message that we should celebrate our differences continues to resonate with children around the world. David McKee illustrated 100’s of children’s books, including Not Now Bernard, and helped create some all-time classic animations, such as Mr Benn.

“Elmer is really about accepting who you are, about celebrating difference. We are all different, that’s what makes the world so rich.” David McKee (1935 – 2022)
