Henri
Artist Marni Maurri decided to celebrate the works of Henri Matisse on her Elmer, specifically his collection named The Cut-Outs which he described as “painting with scissors”.
Marni took inspiration from the colourful, organic shapes in the piece ‘The Parakeet and The Mermaid’, a cut-out mural which covered two walls of Matisse’s studio and he described as “a little garden all around me where I can walk”.
About the artist
As a freelance artist and illustrator based in Worcestershire, Marnie Maurri’s work is highly detailed and focuses on the more whimsical and magical aspects of the world. She is often inspired by nature and the smaller things in life, like a walk in the woods or hearing bird song.
