The Polymath
Inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci
Jane Mota chose to celebrate Leonardo Da Vinci, as she admires his highly curious mind and how he explored the world, its mysteries and possibilities.
As this Elmer sculpture is entitled, Da Vinci is referred to as a ‘Polymath’ meaning a person of wide knowledge or learning, as his work spanned many roles including an inventor, a biologist, a philosopher, a scientific investigator and of course an artist.
The Polymath reproduces some of the detailed sketches produced by Leonardo Da Vinci, The Virtuvian Man, A Skull Sectioned and Drawing of Lilies, for an Annunciation.
